Why is nutrition key before a race?

Runners generally have intense caloric expenditure and, therefore, nutritional needs that are very different from those of other people who lead sedentary lives.

Runners have a reputation for eating a lot, although it's more than just a reputation, it's a reality, as it's possible to burn anywhere from 500 to 1,000 calories during a single run; the body senses this, which generates a voracious appetite.

In addition to knowing what to eat, as a runner, you must know when to eat, as each of your needs can change depending on the specific stage of your training.
